Easter Sunday 2020, was a moment when the world-wide Church experienced uncommon unity. The world and Church have been driven into pockets of isolation because of COVID 19. Resurrection Sunday is the ultimate calendar event for Christians everywhere.

We gather to give praise and thanksgiving for the work of Jesus Christ dying for our sins. We give praise and thanksgiving for the Father who raised Jesus and us from death.

We did gather together.

In our pockets of self-isolation, we gathered.

Unified in ways we could not imagine even two months ago.

We were not united by our denominations or our traditional buildings, meeting in parks or sunrise services; we united around the world by one Spirit, the Holy Spirit, sent by God to unite all believers on our one mission – to share the gospel of Jesus our Lord.

This reality was captured for me by a simple video made by the worship team at South Delta Baptist Church. It was presented online as part of our Easter services. It is a fun video with an unmistakable message embedded in it. We are one family of God regardless of our physical isolation. Just like my family, living in two countries, living in different states and provinces, separated by thousands of kilometers – we are family, united in love and purpose.

Please watch this five-minute worship video and marvel at how our great and glorious God unifies the family of God.
