ACCESS 25 - Loving Muslims Together

Loving Muslims Together / Monday, November 9, 2020

ACCESS 25 is an initiative to support the Loving Muslims Together Network, which exists so that every Canadian Muslim would have access to the Good News in a way that is understandable and approachable.

Lorna Johnston is the Diaspora Ministries Leader at Outreach Canada. She leads two national teams including Loving Muslims Together (LMT.) She works with teams of diverse and experienced leaders and ministries across Canada to alert and activate the church in Canada to the changing opportunities to engage God's mission right here in Canada.

I grew up in a Christian home. I grew up with stories of Jesus Christ and his redemptive work on the cross. I have grown in my understanding and deepened my walk with the Lord as I have pressed in to know and follow Jesus Christ.

  • There has never been a time in my life where I didn’t have access to the redemptive story revealed in the Gospel accounts.
  • There has never been a time in my life when I couldn’t walk into the door of a church and ask questions.
  • There has never been a time in my life when I couldn’t pick up a Bible and read for myself.

ACCESS

In Ephesians 2:17-18 Paul wrote that Jesus came to give us access to God.

He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.

But imagine if you didn’t have access to Jesus? Imagine if you were prevented from learning, discovering, and considering Jesus’ claims.

Muslims coming to Canada as immigrants and refugees have not had access—to Bibles, to Churches, to Christian friends. They’ve never heard the stories of Jesus. They’ve never had freedom to consider, question, wonder

Loving Muslims Together is a network of individuals, churches and ministries that exists to offer access…

  • By praying for God’s Spirit to reveal Jesus Christ to Muslims
  • By equipping people to address the concerns and objections that Muslims have based on what they have been taught.
  • By helping and encouraging each other and learning from each other in community
  • By influencing other Christ-followers to see Jesus at work in the opportunities around us as Muslims move into our neighbourhoods.

Our vision is that every Christ-follower and every Church community would press into the call to join Jesus Christ in giving access to all those who’ve never had the chance.

How Does Loving Muslims Together Provide ACCESS?

Here are 3 (of many) ways that Loving Muslims Together provides ACCESS...

1. Loving a Mosque Community Together

Jesus said, “You shall LOVE the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbour as yourself.” (Luke 10:27-29)

So who is your neighbour?

There are 650 mosques across Canada, scattered in our neighbourhoods. Loving Muslims Together has a vision that each mosque across Canada would have at least one church praying regularly for them. We believe that Christians in Canada are strategically placed to love their neighbours.

This initiative invites & equips churches to pray for the members of their neighbourhood mosque community, and to follow God's leading for ways to tangibly express the loving hospitality of Jesus Christ.

2. Online Bridges Course:

LMT (Loving Muslims Together) is offering an online Bridges course during the months of October, November and December to equip Christians to begin as well as continue, the conversation that will help guide their Muslim friend in taking one step closer to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Participants are welcome to join the course during any one of the sessions.  Click on the buttons for more information about the Online Bridges Course:

3. Prayer Blogs & Letters

Loving Muslims Together has been calling Canadian Christians to pray with goodwill for their Muslim neighbors since 2006. Hundreds of Christians across Canada are meeting and praying for Muslims. The Network supports the Canadian Church in its efforts to minister to Muslims by mobilizing Christians to pray through a communication system on our website that provides monthly & weekly prayer blogs and letters:

  • Call to Prayer Blog (Monthly)
  • Pray for the City Blog (Weekly)
  • God Hears Prayer Letter (Weekly)

Give to ACCESS 25

It’s estimated that there are about 1.7 million Muslims in Canada. From Syria, Turkey, Iraq, Somalia, Afghanistan, Yemen, Bangladesh, Iran, Pakistan, Lebanon…

Loving Muslims Together network exists so that every one of them would have access to the good news in a way that is understandable and approachable.

Your gift of $25 to ACCESS 25 will go to the LMT network and will be used to support the core operations of the National Coordinator whose role is to serve as a switchboard operator: connecting people to opportunities, responding to requests, supporting the volunteers, and generally serving as the hub for all the diverse people, ministries and churches who are part of the LMT Network.
