We are Christ's Ambassadors

Loving Muslims Together / Sunday, November 15, 2020

Check out this short video update from Cristina Boersma, the National Coordinator for Loving Muslims Together, where she shares an encouraging story of a recent conversation.

We are Christ's Ambassadors from Outreach Canada Ministries on Vimeo.

If you'd rather read about Cristina's recent experience, here it is in written form:

We are Christ’s Ambassadors

I recently met with my friend Mariah for coffee, who brought her friend Anna along. I had met Anna before, but we didn’t know much about each other’s lives.

As we chatted and shared about what we were up to in our individual lives, Anna shared that she rented a room in a house owned by a Muslim couple and that she had been living with them for a couple of years.

I then said, “What an awesome opportunity you have Anna, to share the love of Jesus with your housemates in your own home!”

Anna seemed very surprised and with a smile on her face she said to Mariah, “Did you hear what she said? She said I have an opportunity to share the love of God with my housemates! I never saw it like that. They always seemed so set in their beliefs and I wouldn’t even know how to start sharing my faith with them.”

As I noticed the shift in her heart, I became very excited to see the Lord opening her eyes to those of Muslim faith. I then shared how God had worked in my own heart and showed me how He loves Muslims and had sent Jesus to die on the cross for them so that He could bring them from death to life. I encouraged Anna to pray for her housemates and wait with expectancy, to see what the Lord would do in response to her prayers.

I also shared how the Lord had brought Muslims my way as a result of my prayers and opened the door for friendships to be established. The conversation later drifted to other topics and we concluded our chat.

The next day I emailed her a Prayercast video encouraging Christians to pray for Muslims in Canada. And then I received this response from her,

“I just watched the mini video. Thank for sending. It has opened my heart to God’s will for Muslims in Canada. I was so closed. I always get the impression that they are closed to Christ. That they are firm in their beliefs and believe that it is truly the way to heaven. I will pray for God to open the opportunities for Canadian Christians to connect with Canadian Muslims in a way that allows for sharing of God’s true grace and salvation through Christ. The real freedom that Christ offers his children is what those who choose Canada as their home are truly searching for. Thank you for sharing your vision with me.”

Her response gave me so much joy and showed me that we never know how the Lord will use us to touch other people’s hearts. It also reminded me of an exhortation made by the Apostle Paul to Christians in Corinth when he said,

“All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” 2 Corinthians 5: 18-21.

I pray that this story encourages your heart and serves as a reminder that God calls you to be an ambassador for Christ. Muslims around you need Jesus, and you might be the one that God chooses to use to reconcile a Muslim friend to Him.

ACCESS 25

Imagine if you didn't have access to Jesus? Imagine if you were prevented from learning, discovering and considering Jesus' claims?

Muslims coming to Canada as immigrants & refugees have not had access - to Bibles, to Churches, to Christian friends. They've never heard the stories of Jesus. They've never had freedom to consider, question, wonder...

Loving Muslims Together is a network of individuals, churches, ministries that exists to offer ACCESS. Our vision is that every Christ-follower and every church community would press into the call to join Jesus Christ in giving access to all those who've never had a chance.

Your gift of $25 will provide ACCESS, by supporting the Loving Muslims Together Network (LMT). LMT provides ACCESS through initiatives such as "Loving a Mosque Community Together", the Bridges Courses (now offered on-line), and our prayer blogs and letters.

Give the gift of ACCESS today!
