All of the news outlets greeted us with stories and images of the conflict in the Ukraine. Journalists battle for our attention with pithy headlines and captivating images but the one consistent story behind all of the headlines is that there is a war going on and we don’t know all of the details yet. This is a very serious situation that deserves our prayers and attention. We are praying for the people on the ground, soldiers and citizens alike, who find themselves in a battle zone today. We pray for children and families who are faced with fear and uncertainty. We pray for the leaders, both local and global, who have power and influence over these matters. We are praying for divine wisdom, intervention, and protection of human life. It feels like this may be the greatest threat to global security in my lifetime, but I rest in the sovereign power of God, who created the beautiful country of Ukraine and who knows every individual involved or impacted by this conflict. There is only one source of absolute peace, and it is in our God. I pray that his presence will be made known today and that his spirit will guide, and comfort the people of Ukraine. I pray that the leaders of nations will be humbled and hear the voice of God through his spirit and that His peace will prevail.
People, this is a time for prayer. Perhaps we can pray together from 2 Chronicles 7:14 or Psalm 31. What passage from scripture are you praying through today?
More Passages for prayer - Colossians 1:1-4, Revelation 4,5, Psalm 9, 36,37, 55:9-10, 89:20-23, Hebrews 10:12, Luke 18:7,8.
