Jesus came so that all nations would have the opportunity to see, hear and respond to the gospel become his committed disciples, and the 250 million French speakers of the world are included in his plan! Since becoming bilingual as a young man, and subsequently spending many years in ministry in a French speaking Church in Montreal, I have become aware of the scope of spiritual needs in the French speaking world. Over the last three years, while teaching at Rocky Mountain College in Calgary, I have been traveling and teaching leaders in many French speaking countries of West Africa. The spiritual needs in French West Africa, although different from the secular and post-Christian world of France and Quebec, are also exponentially greater than similar English-speaking African countries. Part of this spiritual need is evidenced in the lack of availalble resources and training opportunities for leaders and churches. This need is also keenly felt in both France and Quebec, although the ministry context is radically different.
Addressing the spiritual needs of the French-speaking world is at the heart of my life calling and purpose and has inspired me to leave my role as Professor of Intercultural Studies and Rocky Mountain College and pursue more intentional ministry in Quebec and elsewhere. Outreach Canada shares my commitment to to making resources available to the young and impressionable Francophone church and its leaders around the world. This has led us to creating this exciting and strategic partnership. I'm thrilled with joining the OC team and feel that the visionary focus and commitment of the OC leadership will only increase my effectiveness as I seek to serve the "francophonie".
